Congratulations to other achievers:
Shannyn Boyd won an award at the National Schools Poetry Competition. Her poem The Pact has been recorded as a song by The Black Seeds performer Barnaby Weir.
Daniel Archibald was placed 1st in the 16-17 year old heavyweights grade of the National Secondary Schools Karate Championship. He was also 1st in the Cadet Open grade of the National Championships.
Waimarino Te Ratana received one of eight Hutt City Civic Honours Awards for Youth Services presented by Mayor David Ogden. Waimarino is also the female leader for the HVHS Marae “Te Whanau A Hotuwaipara” which celebrated its 12th birthday in October.
HVHS Boys 1st XI Soccor team won the Rex Dawkins Cup in September. Outstanding play from Logan Luke earned him MVP honours for the tournament. Standout forward Regan Steele was the top goal scorer.
Deakin Palmer has been placed in the top 5 student songwriters in the country. He and co-writer Marco Vinten from HIBS will record their song “Commuter Train” in a professional recording studio
Isaac Spedding won the opportunity to be Production Assistant at the MTV Europe Video Music Awards 2007 in Munich, Germany. This competition was not just for students but open to anyone over 18. He will work with the MTV NZ production team and presenters learning camera work, editing and script writing and more.
